It’s a contest. It’s a gathering. It’s a happening.

The JPP Playwriting Contest — The Maple Edition – in Vermont

On March 22, 2014 Theatre Kavanah was one of four venues across the country to host a Jewish Plays Project (JPP) live Txt2thtr signature contest. Our audience voted on their favorite play from three selections performed by local professional actors. Our winning play, MODERN PROPHET by Sam Graber, went on to compete against other regional contest winners to determine the featured play of the 2014 Jewish Plays Project festival later that June.

David Winitsky, Artistic Director of the Jewish Plays Project, was our emcee and directed the readings. The dynamic and irreverant  Brass Balagan led the audience into the theater with flair. Great food, great performances, great fun!

Wait – there’s more…

The JPP received 228 entries from 22 states and 7 countries to its playwriting contest this year. A big thanks to community panel of readers who helped us select the three plays we performed.
